I have lived in London for many years, and this city still manages to captivate me with its unique peculiarities. When writing about West London, well, I’m on home turf! Since moving to London with my family, I’ve lived in a W-postcode area that feels like home, perhaps because it reminds me of it in some ways. West London offers a unique combination of being close to the bustling heart of the city while also providing an atmosphere that evokes the charm of a village.
Where Are We?
W8 Kensington
Since the 17th century, Kensington has been one of the most important residences of the Royal Family and is one of the most prestigious areas to live in London. Kensington Palace Gardens, in this regard, is the most expensive street in the United Kingdom, known for housing billionaires and embassies. Nearby, you will find one of the most beautiful Royal Parks in London, Kensington Gardens, which contains Kensington Palace. Kensington is home to luxurious buildings and is known for its elegant Victorian and Georgian architecture. It boasts high-level schools, making it a popular choice for families seeking quality education for their children. The area has excellent transport connections, with several Underground stations (such as High Street Kensington and Gloucester Road) and bus lines, ensuring easy travel to other destinations in both central and outer London.
W11 Notting Hill
Attraction for millions of tourists for several decades. Its fame grew significantly after the release of the film ‘Notting Hill’ in 1999, which helped make this area one of London’s most iconic destinations. Famous for the Notting Hill Carnival, Portobello Road Market, and charming pastel-coloured houses, Notting Hill offers a trendy, vibrant atmosphere with a mix of independent boutiques and upscale restaurants.
W14 West Kensington & Holland Park
Situated in a central location in London, this postcode is home to luxury shops, restaurants, and green spaces like the gardens of Holland Park. The neighbourhood features a variety of architecture, including elegant Victorian buildings, Georgian terraces, and modern residences, attracting a diverse array of residents.
